Thanks to advice from my older sister I no longer have mis-matched socks when I do my laundry! I have stashes of safety pins in the areas that we usually take off our socks so that we can pin the toes/ heels together before we put them into the laundry hamper. It is a lifesaver, I haven't had any trouble with rust even with the occasional load that sits in the washing machine.
